My
story
My interest in psychology began with a deep curiosity about how people’s inner worlds shape their lives which still drives my work today. At the heart of this work is a simple motivation: helping people understand themselves and improve their lives.

My background
I discovered psychology almost by accident at age 18, while studying a completely different subject. Something about it immediately clicked, I changed course and psychology has been part of my life ever since.
During my Undergraduate degree I volunteered in psychiatric care which gave me an early glimpse into how powerful human connection can be when someone feels truly seen and understood. A further role working in community mental health within the NHS continued to nurture my interest in supporting people whose lives were affected by anxiety and depression.
After qualifying as a teacher, I spent eleven years teaching psychology - a role I loved. Then, a big change in my job left me struggling with anxiety and depression. I went from feeling confident and capable to questioning everything I thought I knew about myself. Therapy was the turning point that helped me recover. It opened my eyes to how counselling and psychotherapy can help people rebuild their self-belief and feel at home in themselves again.
That experience inspired me to retrain as a therapist. Now, I work with people who feel as lost, anxious, or self-doubting as I once did - helping them find understanding, strength and a way forward.
How I work

I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not an interrogation. I offer a space where you can bring whatever’s happening, no judgement, no pressure, no need to have it all figured out.
My style is down-to-earth, warm, and honest, with a mix of empathy and psychological insight. My background in psychology means I can share practical ways of understanding how your mind and emotions work, while staying grounded in the human side of therapy - listening, reflecting and walking alongside you.
I draw on person-centred, transactional analysis, attachment-based, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) approaches. Each of these offers something slightly different, and together they allow me to tailor our work to your needs, whether that’s understanding your emotions, navigating relationships, or learning new ways to manage overwhelm.

Gus is new to the team and a bit too exuberant to be in sessions yet. He is learning how to be a therapy dog so watch this space!
