Welcome to Laura Tams Counselling and Psychotherapy trading as Let Therapy Help.
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions outline how I, Laura Tams, Counsellor and Psychotherapist, offer therapeutic services.
By engaging in therapy with me, you agree to these terms, which are designed to ensure clarity, transparency and mutual respect in our work together.
Therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. It is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment, and I do not provide crisis or emergency services.
2. Professional Membership and Ethics
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I receive regular clinical supervision to support ethical and effective practice.
3. Confidentiality
All information shared in sessions is confidential.
There are only a few exceptions where I may need to share information:

If I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm

When required by law or court order

Undisclosed road traffic accidents, Money Laundering, Acts of Terrorism or Drug Trafficking

If you request in writing that I share information with another professional

Wherever possible, I will always discuss this with you before any disclosure is made.

4. Data Protection and GDPR
I comply fully with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Your personal data is collected only to provide a professional counselling service.

Client records are:

Stored securely and confidentially

Retained for seven years after therapy ends

Then securely deleted or destroyed

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time.
5. Fees and Payment

£50 per session – Individual therapy (60 minutes)
-
£85 per session – Couples or relationship therapy (60 minutes)
-
Free 20-minute initial telephone consultation

Payment is due on the day of your session by bank transfer.
Cancellations:
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, will be charged in full.
6. Session Format and Length
Sessions last 60 minutes and take place either:

In person: Wallingford, Oxfordshire

Online: For individual therapy (UK, Ireland, Europe)

Couples/relationship therapy is currently offered in person only.
7. Therapy Process
Therapy can sometimes bring up strong emotions or memories. This is a normal part of the process, and I will work with you to ensure that you feel safe and supported as we explore whatever arises.
You are free to discuss, pause or end therapy at any time.
8. Online Therapy
Online sessions are conducted via secure, GDPR-compliant video platforms (usually Google Meet).
You are responsible for ensuring you have a private, quiet space for sessions and a stable internet connection.
9. Communication Between Sessions
I use email primarily for administrative purposes (booking and scheduling).
Therapeutic material is best discussed within sessions.
I aim to respond to all emails within 24 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.
10. Cancellations, Holidays, and Therapist Availability
If I need to cancel a session, I will provide as much notice as possible and offer an alternative time.
I will also notify you in advance of any planned holidays or absences.
11. Ending Therapy
You may end therapy at any time. Where possible, I recommend a final session to reflect on your progress and close the work safely.
I may end therapy if:

Therapy no longer feels beneficial

Ethical or practical considerations require it

Fees remain unpaid after discussion
In such cases, I will explain my reasons and, if appropriate, suggest alternative support.
12. Emergencies and Crisis Support
I do not offer a crisis or emergency service.

13. Complaints and Feedback
If you have concerns about any aspect of your therapy, I encourage you to raise them directly with me so we can discuss them together.

14. Liability and Disclaimer
While I am committed to providing a professional and ethical service, therapy outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
You remain responsible for your own wellbeing, decisions, and actions during and after therapy.
15. Agreement
By booking or attending sessions, you confirm that you:

Consent to proceed with therapy under these terms
