How can therapy

The people I work with often feel

  • trapped by self doubt

  • held back by procrastination

  • confined by anxiety

  • frustrated in their relationships

  • afraid of their own emotions

They might come to therapy because

  • they want to understand themselves and their emotions so they can move forward in life and relationships

  • they feel afraid of letting their emotions out in case it's 'too much'

  • they are tired of feeling unheard or shut down

  • they no longer want to use avoidance as a means of coping

  • they are stuck in cycles of conflict or avoidance

Our work together might include

  • Working out what your anxiety is protecting you from

  • Building tools to manage anxiety in day to day life

  • Learning about how your brain works and how to optimise it's performance

  • Recognising circular arguments and learning how to break free from them

  • Practical insight into how your brain and mind work

Over time you might notice that you feel calmer and more in control.  When emotions arise they may feel less intense and no longer lead to spiralling thoughts or unhealthy coping strategies.

Your questions answered

How do I know if I'm ready for therapy?

Maybe you've noticed a feeling of being 'stuck' and despite trying to cope on your own, things aren't the way you want them to be.    You may have noticed that your usual coping strategies aren't working like they used to and you're struggling with sleep, feeling anxious, irritable or even detached.  You don't need to have any of the answers to come to therapy, just a willingness to be curious and see where it takes you.

How quickly will I start to feel better?

People I work with often say that even after the first session there is a sense of relief that comes from being able to let go.  Therapy isn't about 'fixing you', it's about learning to feel at ease in your own skin again.

Can I talk about more than one problem in therapy?

Yes.  People often talk about different things and in fact this can be really helpful in allowing us to spot patterns and themes that may appear in different areas of your life.

Together we'll explore patterns and build confidence
